Are You “Technically Stuck?” Here’s What I Do…
by Anik Singal on April 26th, 2008 | Blogging | 25 Comments »
We’ve seen posts from some students as well as e-mail who are stuck on some details that are technical and very personal to their host account or their own set-up. Trust me, I’ve been stuck many times and still do till this very day - I’m 100% not technical and happy that way (no desire to become a programmer).
At the same time, I also don’t want to lose days trying to “play with things” to figure them out. For the last 4 years I’ve been using one site to help me hire very inexpensive help on technical matters (especially with Wordpress).
I actually get my entire blog installed with the appropriate plug-ins for as little as just $30-$40 from actual expert Wordpress programmers! To show you how to use the site (Scriptlance.com), I’ve made the video below for you…
Using Scriptlance To Find Inexpensive, Expert Help…

Leave a comment below and let us know what you think! Especially let us know if you decide to post a project there to get some help and what types of bids you’re getting…
Also, just another reminder - April 29th - 2 PM ET … We’re going to have some TIME Limited bonuses, so make sure you get ready to come to the site at exactly 2 PM ET…

Thanks for your sharing the knowledge with us Newbies because that is what this is all about helping “us” the other people understand how it all works. As I learn, I also pass the information on to those who show interest in the information. I can’t wait to hear more. Thanks again and keep up the good work.

Robert,
This was just a CHOICE - I really think if you watch Ros’s video below you should be able to do this, it’s very easy.
Otherwise, perhaps you a more technical friend that may be able to help? In the early days, I did have some friends who would help me out.
I’ve even just gone to some popular forums and asked for help as well.

Love the videos. I am wondering (because of the nature of your demo site) whether you will be covering monetization well in your course.
Love to know that.

I have 2 blogs up now and have added a plugin on one of them. I need to post and find a better theme.
Many problems with .htaccess and the rewrite engine. I hope the rewrite engine is not needed by my other article directories. It sure makes a mess out of my domain names.

It’s noce to see good information but I am not even at the stage where I know why I would need a wordpress upgrade and whats a plugin?

I have accessed onlywire.com and follow your instructions to open an account with these sites. Several of them were not accessable. But my problem is that is was not possible for me to link the post that I have on my blog to any of them. This should have been a fairly simply exercise but somehow I failed.
Should I perhaps contact these ghurus as scriptlance.com for assistance. You lectures are excellent, it is me that is stupid.
thank you so much

Hi Anik !
Help me out please. I wanted to join on the 29th but found one of your other training websites : Niche List Profits which seems to cover everything I want to know regarding monetizing content websites around affiliate programs.
What added value will this course have ?
Thanks!

Sebastian,
This is VERY different - this course is all about blogging and AUTOMATED marketing. Niche List Profits is all about doing the “opt-in” strategy, which is still great but requires VERY active marketing (web 2.0 and social won’t send you any traffic to an optin page).

Thanks Anik
I’ve been marketing online for over 2 years and used to do all the Techie stuff myself… net result was the marketing got neglected. BIG mistake!
Hopefully this can be a BIG lesson for newbies… You may think you don’t have the money to outsource… but it will cost you much, much more trying to do it yourself.
*Time = Money*
The quicker you get the blog built, the quicker you can post to the blog and market the blog… the quicker you make money.
Get a part time job if you have to, to pay for the outsourcing of the Techie stuff. It will then get done quickly and then you can spend all your time marketing the blog and testing various tweaks.
Being a perfectionist I wanted to do it all myself, I wanted to know how everything worked. When something went wrong I would spend hours trying to fix things. It consumed a massive amount of my time… time that could have been spent marketing.
Hopefully someone can learn from my mistakes.
Cheers
Ian

Tried to use onlywire on your blog to see what the problem is but the system is down at the moment. Perhaps it is a problem with only wire and you need to try again later
By the way you blog layout is pretty cool. The header however takes up most of the space above the fold. You may want to consider reducing the size a little
To Anik and Roz, thanks for another informative video. Nice to know that there are good alternetives to elance out there

Hi Anik,
Before i go any further there is a question trouting in my mind, I have installed wordpress 2.5 version with Simplescript because Fantastico didn’t have the latest version of Wordpress at the time I installed it. Your recommending Fantastico in all your videos, does it make a difference having running wordpress 2.5 with Simplescript??
thanks for the info.

Pierre,
My guess is you’re using bluehost.com for your wordpress blog, as am I. I ran into the same issue and simply updated to 2.5 using Simplescript as bluehost recommended. I can’t see that it’s causing any problems — wp2.5 is wp2.5 - however you updated it!

You have made some great offers to the first 10 / 25 people to subscribe on Tuesday. What if your servers go down? I have experienced a couple of product launches where the servers went down due to high traffic volume.

O man…you jinxed it!
I can’t make any promises, but we’re trying REALLY hard to make sure this does not happen. We’ve been slamming our servers with testing for 7 days straight now.
Let’s cross that bridge when we get to it I suppose?

Thanks again, Anik. I have seen Scriptlance before, but it never even occurred to me to go there to help me with a small technical problem. Another Thumbs Up for the Blogging Team!!!!
