But, before we end the PRE-course and get ready to work hands-on with our students during the main course, here is one more “traffic generation” video that should really get you full of ideas…

BIG Announcement In This Video…

“So What’s Blog Classroom Going To Cover?”

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

I bet that question has crossed your mind a few times right? Well, I have your answer! Watch the video below to learn a lot more about what we’re doing on Tuesday, April 29th at 2 PM ET…

Are You “Technically Stuck?” Here’s What I Do…

Saturday, April 26th, 2008

We’ve seen posts from some students as well as e-mail who are stuck on some details that are technical and very personal to their host account or their own set-up. Trust me, I’ve been stuck many times and still do till this very day - I’m 100% not technical and happy that way (no desire to become a programmer).

At the same time, I also don’t want to lose days trying to “play with things” to figure them out. For the last 4 years I’ve been using one site to help me hire very inexpensive help on technical matters (especially with Wordpress).

I actually get my entire blog installed with the appropriate plug-ins for as little as just $30-$40 from actual expert Wordpress programmers! To show you how to use the site (Scriptlance.com), I’ve made the video below for you…

An Unsolicited Student Testimonial…

Friday, April 25th, 2008

Ok, I HAD to post this because it really excited me to see it (also gave Ros and me a chance to “toot our own horn” a bit ; )

Debra, thank you so much for your kind words…

Here’s what she left as a comment in the post below…

====================================

You all are in for just a treat! I took this class in 2006 and started my first blog.

The new class is going to be so much better than the one I took… and it was almost perfect back then.

Anik and Ros are worth every penny… but they never overcharge for the classes. This class will be worth so much more any amount they charge.

You will not only learn to build blogs… but you will be able to have profitable blogs!

Don’t hesitate… hit the BUY button as soon as you see it. This class filled up fast last time… and so many people want in this time it’s not funny.

All I can say is… I am going to take the class again. Why? Because I know that all the new information will rock my blogs to new heights.

Thanks for all you do Ros and Anik.

Lesson 4: Two Easy Ways To Create Blog Post Ideas…

Monday, April 21st, 2008

Alright, we get this question a LOT and I find that many are afraid of blogging because of this one intimidating question…

“What am I going to write about? I don’t know how to write…”

If you think you’re not a professional writer - PERFECT - blogging is the perfect fit for you. Trust me, I’m no professional writer, but I still manage very successful blogs.

On April 29th, we’re going to release a large video series (blogging A to Z), in that Rosalind and I will go through over 9 strategies that we use regularly to come up with great blog content.

To start, here are TWO of our favorites:

Video #1 - Generating Blog Content Material Doing What You Already Do - It’s EASY!

Lesson 3: The Power of The Long-Tail Keywords

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

It’s that time again, time for us to push forward and learn the REAL power of blogs.

Before we do that - if you have not started yet - start now, already over 200 students have submitted their blogs to us!

Lesson 1 - How to install your wordpress blog…
Lesson 2 - How to prepare your blog for the search engines…

Next order of business - I’ve made THREE videos for you today, please take the next 20-30 minutes, close your door, turn off your phone and go through them all (and do Assignment #3).

The 3 videos below are:

1. Why Blogs? AND What Videos Are Coming This Week…
2. PROOF - The Power of the Long-Tail (My own stats)
3. Assignment #3 - How to write for the long-tail keywords…

So a big question we’ve heard is “Why blogs? or “What’s the difference between a blog and a website…” - I decided to make a little video to explain better - I also talk about all the neat videos we have planned for you THIS week (before the big day April 29).

Video #1 - What’s Coming Next & Why Blogs?

Video #2 - MY OWN PROOF - Blogs & Long Tail Keywords

This is a blog I started on February 19, 2008 and have done a total of 58 posts on - no more than 20 minutes a day. I have done NO marketing (except two things that I will show you on Wednesday).

NO - this is NOT a gazillion million visitors - but look at how AMAZING of a start I have, ALL because of long-tail keywords & blogs…

We Review 3 More Student Blogs…

Friday, April 18th, 2008

Note: Tomorrow’s video is going to talk about the difference between BLOGS and WEBSITES and why exactly blogs are so powerful…

As promised, here are 3 more student blog reviews - this time you get to hear from Rosalind! Take it away Ros…

http://telemeditationretreats.com/blog/Donna’s Meditation Retreats Blog
http://telemeditationretreats.com/blog/

Donna started this blog in February of this year and has made 18 posts already. Good work, Donna!

What I like about this blog is that Donna has realized the importance of relationship-building early in the game, most notably through installing both a newsletter signup form (she’s using Aweber) and lets her readers subscribe through a Feedburner feed.

I also like that you’ve made good use of Categories which makes it easy for your readers to access information on a specific topic.

In that vein, you might want to consider removing the ‘Articles’ category (too unspecific) and either move those articles into their appropriate topic categories, or creating Pages from their content.

We’ll be covering the distinction between Posts and Pages during the course, but for now suffice to say that Pages consist of static material that is of high importance on your site.

Too… I’m wondering why, after such a prolific start, no posts have been made yet in April? By it’s very nature, blogging is most effective from a traffic generation standpoint when we post regularly.

http://sunshinerewards.com/videoblog/Tricia’s Sunshine Rewards Blog
http://sunshinerewards.com/videoblog/

Tricia started her Sunshine Rewards blog on an already established site on April 1st, 2008 and has been posting every 3 to 4 days.

What I like about Tricia’s blog is the seamless integration into her existing template and I LOVE the fact that she’s video blogging, doing both product endoresements and videos of a more personal nature such as asking for reader support in her participation during the 17th Race for the Cure in Indianapolis. Fantastic!

Real people love and trust other real people far more than they do corporations, so Tricia is definitely on the right track here.

What I might suggest here is that Tricia consider adding more categories to her blog, such as Health & Beauty, which would be a great category under which to put the acne clearing device video.

Too, to make the blog more noticeable to viewers who arrive on the non-blog homepage, is that she place a link to the blog in the top navigation.

http://buy-and-sell-cars-for-profit.com/Steve’s Buy and Sell Cars for Profit Blog
http://buy-and-sell-cars-for-profit.com/blog/

Steve started his blog on the first day of the course and I see that he’s already made a post and changed the header background colors… cool!

What I really appreciate about Steve’s work is that the first thing he tackled was his ‘About’ page, something many webmasters often neglect.

I would suggest adding your photo to that page, Steve, or if you’re shy, have a charicature made that identifies you throughout the site. We want people to know that Steve is a real person.

Steve mentions in his first post that he ‘changed hosts for my site www.Buy-And-Sell-Cars-For-Profit.com recently and dumb me didn’t realize that I would lose all my previous blog posts’. Steve, you can incorporate articles from the original site into your new blog, they’re all still there.

Lastly, the category topics should be distinct from one another, as you might get penalized for having 4 categories that all contain some form of ‘buy and sell cars’.

Likewise, posting one entry to all 4 categories may result in duplicate entry penalties — something we want to avoid and will talk about more during the course.

A message to all our students - feel free to participate! Help your fellow students by giving them advice…

We’ll be back tomorrow with a video from ME this time (Anik) - I’ll talk about the difference between blogs and websites and why BLOGS take the award in our opinion.

Lesson 2: The 4 Easiest Ways To Preparing Your Blog For Search Engines…

Thursday, April 17th, 2008

Well, I have to say - Rosalind and I are very proud, the response has been incredible - over 150 blogs submitted and still climbing! The best part is that many of you (if not most) have actually taken the time to get STARTED (so you didn’t wait for tomorrow). As promised, here is the next lesson AND the next assignment…

Getting The Search Engines To Love Your Blog…

In order to teach you how to optimize your blog for the search engines, we HAD to make 2 PRE-videos (total of 3 videos) - so we basically had to break it down into more steps. Today’s video watching may take a bit more time, but the overall steps are pretty easy. So, turn off your e-mail, put your cell phone on silent, close the door and start learning and implementing right away…

Homework Assignment #2…

If you still have not done Assignment #1 - you know we were not kidding. Don’t fall behind, do it right away and you can easily catch-up. The assignment today is that you need to get your blog SEO ready - download and install the appropriate plug-ins and make sure you have activated permalinks, etc…

We Review 3 Student Blogs…

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

NOTE: We’ll be releasing another video - “The 4 Steps To Making Your Blog SEO Friendly…” tomorrow - so look for that! Today, I’ve decided to sit down and review 3 of the blogs that were submitted on our first post…if you want your own blog reviewed - well, watch this video where I have an “ethical” bribe for you! Click Here… Here are the 3 I chose today, here they are (we’ll also let Rosalind chime in to give her comments and she’ll review a batch soon…). By the way, I randomly chose some different style blogs so as to get some diversity in the reviews (no offense if yours was not chosen, it may very well be later!). Submit your blogs in the comments! - Click Here…

ThinkPadToday.comThinkPadToday.com I’m very impressed! It seems you’ve had this blog up for a bit and have been working on it - great! The best way to get blogs to work for you is persistence and tons of posts and of course time… A few things I really like... 1. The blog is also about a very specific niche… 2. You’re using specific product names in headlines - this is great for SEO 3. Re-done template (not the standard) - gives it some flavor 4. VIDEOS!!! I saw youtube videos inserted - that is great. A few things to think about: 1. You seem to be only linking to Lenovo - I doubt that they have the best deals, what about doing some price comparison and linking to multiple merchants? 2. Ebay affiliate program may work well here - think about using one of their widgets besides your posts - worth a test! Overall, let’s just work on marketing and more traffic!

DatingTips247.comDatingTips247.com Another nice blog with a custom template. You should note that a blog in this niche can really take off in the “social world…” This blog is in a very active niche that even Rosalind has tons of experience in and has obviously a great living in… A few things I like: 1. Nice long posts - great search engine food. 2. The titles are catchy and short - good for the social wold. 3. The Love meter - yea, very addictive - everyone should place catching things like this! A few things to think about: 1. Better job displaying affiliate offers on the side bar - you have TONS of space there. 2. Think more about LINKING to affiliate offers IN your post - converts much better. 3. Add social media (like Digg, etc…) - We’ll be talking about that shortly…

superfreestylemotocross.comSuperFreeStyleMotoCross.com/blog/ Here is one of our NEW students who was motivated to install yesterday - GOOD FOR YOU (applause!). Now, of course since this is a brand new blog, tons of things to do over time - no problem, we’ll get through all of it… Hopefully this blog will motivate some others as well… A few things I like: 1. Neat topic - nice niche. 2. You thought fast and got adsense in there … Always monetize! Going forward: 1. Try to commit to at least 1 post a day (especially in the beginning). 2. If you really insist on Adsense, WRAP the text around it and make it a bit smaller - it’s not user-friendly the way it is right now. 3. Other than Adsense, any other monetization ideas? 4. Watch tomorrow’s video so we can get you SEO’d up…

GREAT start! Seriously, koodos to you and ANYONE else who has taken the time to get their blogs installed. ALRIGHT - well, more where that came from…if you want a chance at getting yours reviewed, watch my little “BRIBE” video! Now, seriously - there is NO tomorrow, go install your blog :)
